This semester I will complete my sought after Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from UMass-Boston. The last step in this process will be with the internship program here at Northeastern in the Strength & Conditioning department, that just after one day I can already see it has a lot to offer.

From very early on in my life I developed a strong passion for sports, particularly the ones I played which were basketball and football. Throughout high school I always searched for ways to improve my ability in those sports. I became aware of the importance of strength & conditioning, so another passion developed on my behalf.

I started my college career at Florida Atlantic University to help expand my network in the strength & conditioning field that I pursued. Florida is a hotbed for football talent, so I figured it would be beneficial to establish a good connection from there. Unfortunately I had to learn the hard way, about the economic feasibility of paying out-of-state tuition, so I transfered to UMass-Boston to finish my degree.

In order to gain more experience in the strength & conditioning field I started an after school program at my old high school (Rockland High School) for students who wanted to train to improve athletic performance. I had full autonomy of the program with the discretion of the athletic director, and I received positive feedback from the students and coaches for the program.

Now I am looking forward to completing this internship because I feel that I have a lot to gain from it. From what I’ve been exposed to so far there is a lot to learn from the program heads, and that this will be a great experience.
